Abstract

Over the years radical prostatectomy has evolved from open to laparoscopic to robotic-assisted. This chapter provides a critical review and comparison of all three techniques. Non-randomised outcomes appear to support lower positive margin rates and better erectile function with robotic surgery. These results, however, are as much dependent on surgical expertise as on technological advances. © 2008 Springer-Verlag London.
