Abstract

The author reviews the major gemstone deposits of Pakistan which he assessed for the State Gem Corporation of Pakistan. Deposits visited and described include the emerald mines of the Swat valley, Ruby deposits in the Hunza valley and pink topaz deposit at Katlang 60 km NE of Peshawar. There are some references to other emerald deposits.-M.O'D.
