Currently data are often considered the most vital asset of an organization; they need to be of good quality in order to properly sustain the organization’s competitive advantage and support operational and decision support systems. The identification and rating or ranking of the critical success factors (CSFs) for data quality management is still understudied, although it is very significant for organizations that intend to implement an adequate management of data quality. This work is an exploratory study on that subject. It identifies and rates 19 CSFs, through a qualitative research methodology, using a focus group, followed by a Delphi study. The results show that the top three factors are Data Governance, Management Commitment and Leadership and Continuous Data Quality Management Improvement.
