Abstract

The framework Agent-Based Disaster Simulation Environment (ABDiSE) provides agent-based model elements of common types of natural disasters, including fires, floods and debris flows. Active objects describe how agents move, attach, and interact with each other. The simulation engine provided by the framework enables the objects to be executed for purposes of simulating the causes and dynamics of the disaster modeled by them. ABDiSE is extensible: Agents and external simulators needed to model elements and dynamics of new disaster scenarios and define behaviors and interactions of agents can be added without requiring recompilation.
