Abstract

The introduction will explain the scope of the book: (i) the presentation of clinical evidence for the efficacy of herbal and nutritional treatments in the context of anxiety disorders, and (ii) how health professionals can apply this knowledge in a clinical setting with patients presenting with a wide range of symptoms, including comorbid mood disorders. The rationale for using these treatments in comparison to pharmaceutical options is also discussed, including a more favourable side effect profile and multi-modal mechanisms of action that make these treatments more suitable as chronic treatments.
