Abstract

The authors consider different theories in turn: the human information-processing model, models of writing tha trelate idea generation to other subprocesses, methods of capturing and manipulating ideas when writing,and cognitive constraints imposed on idea generation when writing. They criticially review the literature relevant to idea generation when writing.
