Abstract

INTRODUCTION. Continuing Vocational Education and Training (CVET), in terms of its professionals, is characterized in Spain by having a short training, a less recognized status and a less specialized body of knowledge is required from the student. CVET is conceived as a model that contributes to the definition of professional identity, from professional profiles to professional performance .This fact led us to consider the objectives of our research: identify the professional profiles of CVET; define the specific competences framework for each professional profile, describe the functions and professional activities for each professional profile, and demarcate the framework for the transversal competences . METHOD. In order to achieve the objectives of the research, the Delphi Method was used. Two successive Delphi rounds have been carried out with 60 experts. RESULTS. Elaborating on the findings of this research, it should be noted that three professional profiles have been defined -training manager, trainer and mentor- with their respective functions, professional activities and specific and transversal competences; that are indications to training program, adapted to the qualifications framework. DISCUSSION. The delimitation of this reference would conceive CVET as a profession that occupies a place in the field of professional activities of society, providing a service according to contextual and ethical standards that define the occupation. It also prevents professional intrusion, and provides guarantees for quality professional work; and finally, it establishes levels of qualification, certification and accreditation to recruit competent professionals. Calling for these professionals to receive specialized training is a response to the need, which has been expressed in various specialized forums, to establish a specific professional identity.
