Abstract

Production of a bacteriocin-like substance associated with the presence of a plasmid, pKW4, of Mr 9.5 × 106 has been demonstrated in a JK-type coryneform. The bacteriocin has a narrow spectrum of activity, acting predominantly against JKs, Corynebacterium bovis and Rhodococcus equi. A restriction endonuclease map of the plasmid has been constructed. © 1984.
