Hypertension or high blood pressure is a actually disorder of the arteries when that lead to supply oxygen and nutrients by blood to tissues is hampered until they are needed. Control of hypertension until now considered not satisfactory, even in developed countries, so people are expected to make an effort as much as possible independently, that is by a set pattern of consumption and lifestyle in accordance with a healthy lifestyle. The research aims to examine patterns of consumption and lifestyle in elderly patients with hypertension at the work area Oesapa Health Center in 2009. This research uses a descriptive approach with cross sectional study.. Research is conducted at the working area Oesapa Health Center. When the research was conducted over 3 months until during of April to June 2010. The samples are 113 people who taken by purposive technique. The results showed that the average food consumption based on the type of food class elderly hypertension patients in a category that is currently between 4-5 types of food groups. Total of 48 people (42.48%) elderly patients with hypertension have a habit of smoking, beside that elderly patients with hypertension have not to engage in sports are 65 people (57.53%).
