Abstract

This chapter details the rationale for this edited collection, Navigating Fieldwork in the Social Sciences: Stories of Danger, Risk and Reward. It outlines why we feel it is critically important to share and disseminate raw and vulnerable first-person narratives of our fieldwork experiences, stories that explore the physical, emotional and psychological manifestations, and consequences, of risk and fieldwork, where risk and fieldwork are variably embodied, experienced and conceived.
