Shortly after the publication of the first edition of this book, I left academia and Saskatchewan to return to Ottawa and a position within the federal government. I reflect briefly here on some of the challenges of opening a serious public discussion on race and Whiteness in the Ottawa context and amidst political incentives to silence such discussion.
