Abstract

Diversity of variants, rising flexibility, reduction of time-to-market, mass customization, shorter product lifecycles are not only buzzwords but real facts which producing companies have to deal with day by day. One strategy in facing these challenges in the future is the use of Reconfigurable Manufacturing Systems (RMS). © 2006 Springer.
