Abstract

A basic education of nine years (Grades 1-9) was made compulsory in China’s Education Law of 1995 (Article 18) and stated that “Citizens shall have equal opportunity of education regardless of their nationality, race, gender, occupation, property or religious belief etc.” (Article 9).
