Abstract

Bismuth ferrite, BiFeO3 (BFO) as a single-phase multiferroics coexistence with both (anti)ferroic ordering at room temperature. Their coupling has been investigated intensely and offering opportunities in the enhancement of ferromagnetic properties. The behavior of the BFO phase with other phases in a compound with its magnetic and dielectric properties is also needed to be studied. Polycrystalline (BiFeO3)1-x (Bi12.24Co12.8O40)x composite ceramics have been synthesized via sol-gel method. The resulting of magnetic and dielectric properties for the sample with x = 0, 0.62, 1 (Bi12.24Co12.8O40) composite have been investigated. XRD analysis depicted that both phase present-driven the magnetic-dielectric properties. Experimental results disclose that increasing the Bi12.24Co12.8O40 (BCO) ratio implicates the stifled of the spiral spin structure, resulting in the occurrence of net magnetization. The dielectric constant (Er) has been found to decrease with the increasing frequency of the applied electric field and shows non-Debye relaxation behavior. An enhancement in magnetic saturation with increasing BCO content (up to 82 %) has been observed.
