Abstract

This chapter reviews the World Bank’s contribution to China’s extraor-dinary success in reducing poverty. First, it outlines the form of the World Bank’s contribution. The World Bank’s extensive advisory role and partnership with China, alongside its major and explicitly poverty-related programs, are elaborated therein. Second, the chapter provides an assessment of the effectiveness of the World Bank in its partnership with China.
