During the last decades several C-14 dates on molluscs have been obtained from Late Weichselian seabeds in Vendsyssel. It has proved possible to evaluate the fauna communities and distinguish between arctic and boreal-arctic communities at different depths. A sea-level curve can be drawn for the final part of glaciation in Jutland up to the end of Allerod, showing that the highest marine shoreline was established between 14 000-13 000 BP and that the Zirphaea Beds, the oldest of which is dated to about 12 800 BP, do not represent a separate transgression but is a boreal littoral equivalent of the Upper Saxicava Sands. -from Author
