Abstract

Available fire retardant fillers are reviewed with reference to their mechanism of action, both as fire retardants and smoke suppressant additives. Means for enhancing their efficiency are considered using flame retardant synergists and nanoparticulate filler variants of magnesium hydroxide, hydrotalcite and boehemite.
