Atherosclerosis in patients with type 1 diabetes

Abstract

Type 1 diabetes is often associated with the early manifestation of atherosclerosis, which represents the morphological basis for macrovascular complications of diabetics. Atherosclerosis in patients with type 1 diabetes shows certain specific features that result from diferent proportions of risk factors, the presence of diabetes and its complications. The paper deals with the possibilities of influencing and detecting the atherosclerotic process in these risk patients.
