Abstract

Bioethical debate and study have increased in scope and significance over the past two decades. The most deontological approach to this debate is culturally related and reflects also the religious nature/involvement of the topics discussed. This chapter overviews the infrastructure available, namely, the Bioethics Consultative Committee, the Ministries’ Health Ethics Committee, various research ethics committees, and public debate. Then some topics which have created controversy are discussed in detail, including in vitro fertilization, artificial nutrition and hydration, abortion, and primary health care.
