Surgical incisions

Abstract

The purpose of any surgical incision is facilitation of the planned operation with the least possible morbidity. As most urological operations can be performed via many different approaches, the surgeon must combine understanding of all alternatives with the flexibility to choose the incision most appropriate to each clinical situation. The selection may make the difference between an easy or difficult operation, which will affect the experience of both the patient and surgeon. © 2006 Humana Press Inc.
