Abstract

Isogenic lines carrying the two major genes for blast resistance Pi-1 and Pi-2 were crossed to popular rice varieties IR36, IR64 and IR72 to transfer the resistance. The closely linked markers C481 for Pi-1 and RG64 for Pi-2 were used for identifying the genes in the parents, F1 and F2 segregating generations.
