Abstract

Within 24 hr following intravenous injection into pregnant hamsters on the 8th day of gestation, 65zinc can be found in embryonic tissues in significant amounts. It does not cause any appreciable developmental malformations. The simultaneous administration of cadmium does not prevent the placental transfer of zinc although these two metals are known to have many antagonistic biochemical and physiological effects.
