This paper reports the study on the error mediation in teaching computer programming. In order to achieve this goal, the proposal of a system framework for the manipulation of error records that promotes the error mediation with effective participation of the teacher is described. The implementation of this framework gives rise to the FARMA-ALG tool, which is described in detail. Experiments carried out using the FARMA-ALG tool in real teaching environments, as well as the analysis of students' perceptions about the error mediation are reported. The results indicate that the tool and, consequently, the proposed framework can act positively for the error mediation in the educational work and in the overcoming of the traditional view of the error
