Abstract

The chapter is devoted to the need for a theory of performance in which one can apply the principles of the DBM described in the second part of the book. It describes in detail the use made by the term ‘performance’ in linguistics, philosophy of language, and in other fields of knowledge in search of a more general definition. It highlights how the DBM extended theory of performance is linked to a careful assessment of brain plasticity.
