Honey is a substance that contains high antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, wound-healing, anti-cancer, and free radical scavenging activity. The antioxidant properties are conferred by compounds varies in honey, including flavonoids, phenolics, vitamin C, and amino acids. Phytochemical screening is a method for identifying active compounds in honey which can be potential antibacterial and antioxidant. This study aims at determining the phytochemical content of three types of monofloral honey from Java (kapok honey, rubber honey, and mango honey) and four types of multifloral honey from Sumbawa by qualitative tests on alkaloids, steroids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, triterpenoids, and quinones. The results of phytochemical screening indicated that three types of monofloral honey and multifloral honey are positively identified as containing flavonoids and saponins. These compounds are secondary metabolic compounds that have antibacterial and antioxidant abilities.
