Describes the diagnostic criteria for distinguishing distinct subtypes of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) as operationalized by Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-IV (DSM-IV), and presents studies which (1) provide evidence for the neurobiological basis of ADHD, (2) differentiate behavioral symptomatology in children with ADHD and learning disorders, and (3) present evidence related to the reading, math, and social skills of children with ADHD.
