Abstract

With a wide production, Paulo Freire’s work is a reference for different researchers in the educational field. Part of the commemorative section of the author’s centenary, this article is dedicated to understanding his presence in the journal Educação & Sociedade (from the Portuguese, Education and Society), through a bibliographical survey. Therefore, we consulted the 41 volumes, published between 1978 and 2020, locating all the texts that referenced Freire and his work. In addition to mapping by year and cataloging the works cited, we sought to identify the Freirean concepts used. As a result of this survey, we highlight ten conceptual dimensions, being the concepts most frequently used related to “Pedagogy of the oppressed/Liberation”, “Dialogue/Dialogicity/Dialogic communication”, “Paulo Freire Method”, and “Change/Social transformation”.
