Abstract

Vitiligo is a challenging disorder to treat. To date, no treatment gives truly satisfactory results. Some areas, such as bone prominences and extremities are almost impossible to fully repigment. However, from molecules that target the immune system, to therapies that stimulate the proliferation and differentiation of mel-anocytes and/or melanocyte progenitors, and others that fight against radical species or bring new melano-cytes to the affected areas, we now have many strategies to repigment vitiligo patches. Literature is surprisingly very poor concerning the evaluation of the combination of those repigmenting strategies. However, in the light of existing results, combination therapies appear to provide higher rates of repigmentation as compared with traditional monotherapies. © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
