Abstract

Analysis of the evolution of vocabulary in the two manuscripts that have preserved the Catalan translation carried out by Berenguer Sarriera of Regimen sanitatis ad regem Aragonum by Arnau de Vilanova. The comparison of the vocabulary of the two manuscripts, copied a century apart, demonstrates the effort of both copysts to adapt to contemporary uses. The adaptation of the scripta to temporary uses of every copyst indicates the usefulness of the genre of regimina sanitatis and the existence of a public willing to acquire this type of works, especially if they are translated into the vernacular language. Another indicator of the success and diffusion of this medical genre is the presence of its own concepts and terminology in literary works. This paper presents some examples from the Llibre de meravelles by Ramon Llull, Lo Crestià by Francesc Eiximenis, Curial e Güelfa, Tirant lo Blanc by Joanot Martorell and l’Espill by Jaume Roig.
