Abstract

There exists a strong connection between works of fiction and the locations that inspired them. A captivating blend of history and myth, reality and fiction, creates an enthralling experience for those fortunate enough to pilgrimage to these famed destinations. For vampire genre readers, settings span the globe, from the mountains of Romania, to the streets of New Orleans, and the rainy hills of Forks, Washington. This paper examines locales depicted in the fictional works of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles and Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga, and the impact these fictional works have had on the real-world venues that inspired them.
