Abstract

In this study, the Scopus database of scientific publications has been used to analyze the articles whose purpose is the dissemination of knowledge in the field of savings and credit cooperatives as a field of research. The analysis is based on bibliometric techniques applied to a base of 311 documents that have been published between the years 1923 and 2022. Among the findings of the study, it is found that developed countries such as the United States, Germany and Spain contribute significantly to scientific productivity. In this field. It also highlights the case of Ecuador as the only Latin American country that is among the 10 countries with the largest number of publications. On the other hand, at the level of authors, it is mainly Ibero-American researchers who show greater productivity and impact, as well as the Journal of Cooperative Studies REVESCO is the source that provides the largest number of publications in relation to savings and credit cooperatives. Likewise, this research topic is related in an important way to concepts such as: social economy, microfinance and financial sustainability.
