HASTA VE YAKINLARININ HASTA HAKLARI VE “HASTA HAKLARI BİRİMİ” HAKKINDAKİ BİLGİ DÜZEYLERİNİN VE FAYDALANMA DURUMLARININ ARAŞTIRILMASI

Abstract

The study was conducted in order to find out the knowledge level of patients and patients’ relatives in Kocaeli province about the “patient rights and patient rights unit” and their taking advantage of situation. For obtaining information, the patients and patient relatives who are over 18 years and seeking treatment from Izmit Seka Public Hospital, Izmit Children’s and Maternity Hospital, Kocaeli Public Hospital, and Derince Training and Research Hospital, 316 patient and patient relatives selected by applying the stratified sampling technique, a questionnaire that measures their knowledge level about and their use of patient rights. The data were obtained through face to face meetings in the form of a survey. The obtained data was analyzed and interpreted by SPSS. The key findings are as follows: the patients’ and their relatives’ level of awareness of the patient rights is 81.8 percent; the patients’ and their relatives’ benefitting from patient rights approximately 49.1 percent; the patients or their relatives have made an application to the Patient Rights Unit at least one time; 86.8 percent of these applications were non-exhaustively or sufficiently taken care of by the unit officers
