Abstract

This article introduces emerging markets, their history, current developments, and future trends. To do this, it first analyses the origin of the ?emerging markets? name, a list of potential markets to be included in the emerging category, and the flows of trade and investments along withtheir share in the world?s economy. It continues by studying the main characteristics of emerging markets and the distinctive features of local players. The article concludes by exploring two growing trends in emerging markets, their largest cities as the markets of the future, and the commercial relationship between China and LatinAmerica.
