Abstract

This chapter describes the creation of an appendicovesicostomy performed in the open and robotic-assisted techniques. The text includes an introduction that outlines the indications, risks, alternatives, essential steps, equipment required, and variations in technique for the procedure. This is followed by a template operative dictation, which provides the reader with an operative report, as found in a patient chart or electronic medical record. A description is provided of the following critical concepts for the procedure such as preserving blood supply to the appendix, ensuring adequate tunnel into the bladder, and appendicovesicostomy stoma creation.
