Abstract

The aim of the current paper is to summarize the contribution of systematic reviews to criminology in relation to drug interventions. The approach adopted is to examine the results of systematic reviews across a broad range of drug interventions and a broad range of crime-related outcome measures. It encompasses criminal justice interventions (e.g., drug testing, boot camps, and drug rehabilitation programs) as well as traditional prescribing and treatment methods (e.g., rapid detoxification, maintenance prescribing, prescription of opioid receptor antagonists, and psycho-social treatment programs). This chapter presents the results of a range of dmg interventions in reducing crime and criminal behavior. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2019 APA, all rights reserved)
