Abstract

In light of our dialectic constructivism, we have developed a set of instructional software on word problems in elementary mathematics. We managed to use ICT to create a constructive learning environment from four perspectives: (1) Challenge and support learners' higher-order thinking; (2) Promote learners' deep and flexible understanding on the base of introductory knowledge acquisition; (3) Enhance learners' conversation and collaboration through micro-community; and (4) Facilitate learners' self-regulation during learning. Some principal considerations will be explained in detail.
