Abstract

The development of an ethylene dimerization catalyst giving high yields and selectivity of butene-1-an important raw material used in the production of polybutene-1 with good creaping property at high temperature and high resistance to stress-cracking-is carried out. The catalytic systems are alkylaluminum-aryltitanate binary, and alkylaluminum-aryltitanate-aryl or alkyl phosphite ternary systems. As the results of process design of butene-1 production using the cataysts it was found that the process producing butene-1 from ethylene can be compact and high purity of butene-1 can be prepared economically. The _features of the new catalysts and the economics of the process are described.
