Um hospício em crise: Imagens de uma experiência de desinstitucionalização

Abstract

This article reports the experience of deconstructing a psychiatric hospital which took place in 2005 in a town in the northeastern countryside. The starting point was an intervention by the federal courts, at the request of the Ministry of Health. The author, who was the intervenor for the hospital at that time, uses field journal fragments to show the reality as experienced in the asylum. The article intends to contribute so that these processes might be multiplied in the country and more people realize the need to launch them.
