Discusses research and applications in behavioral sport psychology, and suggests several ways in which a behavioral approach can enhance more mainstream work in sport psychology (goal setting, self-talk regulation, and imagery rehearsal/visualization). The authors' involvement in this area is described and areas for future study are outlined. The origins and early development of behavioral sport psychology are explored.
