Abstract

This article takes Helga Nowotny’s work as starting point for a guided tour in 30-40 years of sociology of knowledge debates. Consecutive scientific controversies, from nuclear energy to climate change, reveal to be focal points of discussion and innovation. Helga Nowotny’s work provides fruitful perspectives on more comprehensive trends and mutual reinforcement in and between the fields of sociology of knowledge, political sociology and environmental sociology.
