Abstract

In summary, beaches are dynamic, generally exhibiting a trend of coastline change which can be either advancement or retreat, with fluctuations about this trend. Although the underlying processes governing beach change are well-understood qualitatively, our ability to predict quantitatively these changes is likely to remain poor for the coming decades.
