This paper examines the SCREEN and TOSCA approaches to service creation. The methodologies of both projects for the creation of distributed services are presented. A specialisation of the SCREEN methodology for the creation of TOSCA frameworks is then described, followed by an aligned TOSCA/SCREEN process model, which combines both the SCREEN and TOSCA approaches and states when each is most applicable. In conclusion, the paper shows that the SCREEN and TOSCA approaches are both complimentary and complementary, and that the decision to choose which process is more appropriate for a specific application should be motivated by a good business case.
