Abstract

With the increase in scientific research and commercial exploitation of the oceans and the strengthening of military defense forces in coastal areas, research on underwater network technologies is becoming increasingly important. UWAC remains the only effective tool for long-range information interaction in underwater networks compared to radio waves and underwater optical communication technologies. The improvement of the performance of UWAC technology also makes the research of UWAC expand rapidly from point-to-point communication to point-to-multipoint communication, which makes the study of the UWAC network possible. Whether it is marine research and development, or military activities, there is a need for long-term information collection, processing, and research on the marine environment, the substrate, and changes. With the help of UWAC networks, these information parameters can be obtained more quickly and effectively. Therefore, the research of UWAC network technology is of great significance for marine environment monitoring and protection, marine geological disaster forecasting, seabed mineral resources development, and marine military activities. This chapter introduces the concept of the UWA network and its related technologies.
