Abstract

The article discusses the plan of Indian industrialist Ajit Gulabchand to develop a leafy mountain retreat in Lavasa, India, which is expected to transform it into a green city. It notes that the design of the hill station being developed by Gulabchand is based on the principles of New Urbanism and on biomimicry wherein it uses nature's method to create man-made things. The retreat area will be developed with low energy and water consumption and the architecture will be a mixed provenance.
