Continuous spinal anesthesia (CSA) is an old technique but during the 20 years, it has been used very little. In recent years, CSA has been used for central regional block because of new alternative techniques. This article reviews the relevant aspects of CSA; its history, indications, and the types of catheters available. Recommendations for appropriate local anaesthetic use, and the advantages and disadvantages of the technique are also discussed.
