Abstract

Products and manufacturing systems from mechanical engineering and its related industrial sectors like automotive engineering are getting more and more complex. Time to market is decreasing simultaneously. Under these circumstances the product creation process is facing extraordinary requirements. The product creation process ranges from the initial product idea to a successful entry into market. The whole process covers three major steps. These are strategic planning, product development and development of production systems. © 2006 Springer.
