Abstract

The genetic defects that occur during tumor evolution perturb an intricate web of highly interconnected intracellular and intercellular signaling pathways. These molecular circuits, populated in part by proto-oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes, normally serve to maintain functionally healthy cells and stable tissues.
