As the people of Shora have faced several natural disasters in previous years, this chapter presents their knowledge and perceptions of environmental security and survival in the village, through an unfolding discussion on economic security. The people of Shora have expressed their concern and opinions about conserving Sundarbans and perceive that the forest protects them during natural disasters. Therefore, they are concerned that if Sundarbans is damaged, their lives will become insecure; hence the discussion considers the women's role in protecting the forest through care and indigenous knowledge.
