Abstract

In this chapter we review the world literature for the long-term outcomes of the different DSDs. This shows where advances have been made but also the existential issues facing adults with DSD that still need addressing. The social, cultural and ethnic background has a profound effect on the medical approach to a patient with DSD as well as on the long-term outcome, as seen by the patients themselves. The current deficiencies in management in many western countries are leading to establishment of regionalised, special centres, and this trend is likely continue.
