Abstract

In order to meet today's business needs, companies using business process workflow engines not only demand to span their business processes across organizational borders but also to have the flexibility to dynamically select their partners to be able to react adequately to change. This paper explores the requirements arising from this need, followed by an evaluation of existing approaches regarding cross organizational process modelling and -execution. Finally we introduce our solution for dynamic connection of business processes between organizations, which is based on a subject-oriented business process modelling language. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
